How to Certify

Applications are due Dec. 11, the Friday of finals week.

To be eligible to apply for certification, you must be currently completing all of the following: Com 101, ComSt 102, Com 245, Com 265, and Com 295 (with a C or higher). We average your Com GPA and cumulative gpa. This generates what we call the ranking gpa. Entrance to Spring 2009 ranking gpa cutoff was a 2.7.

Apply for Com 295 and Bdcst 350

Applications are closed for the Spring 2010 semester.

Application filing period re-opens in March for Summer and Fall 2010.

Applications will be available here online and also in Murrow East 226.

All students must apply for Com 295 Media Writing. Admission to Com 295 is based on cumulative GPA; for transfer students it is based on transfer GPA. The course should be taken your second semester sophomore year, or first semester junior year to graduate in four years. Applications are available in Murrow East 226 in October for the Spring semester, and in March for the Summer and Fall semesters. A student should have at least 40 credits before applying. Upon completion of COM 295 a student must apply for certification.


Neal Robison/Cable 8 Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a Cable 8 student who has worked as a Board Member or Executive Board Member. The student must be certified in the College of Communication, must have worked for Cable 8 for at least one year, and must be in their junior year. The Neal Robison/Cable 8 Scholarship is worth $1,000.
