- COM 501, Theory Building in Communication
- COM 509, Quantitative Methods
- COM 591 (or new number), Qualitative Methods
- Conceptual courses, 18 credits
- Chosen in consultation with the advisor and committee
- 12-15 from inside the College of Communication
- 3-6 from outside the College of Communication
- Thesis, 4-6 credits
- Total, 31-33 credits
