Summer 2010 interns wanted
Description: Paid summer newsroom internships, 37.5 hours a week for 10 weeks. $8.66 per hour.
Applications being accepted for: reporter, copy editor, page designer, graphic artist, photographer, multimedia production.
Eligibility requirements:
Must be a college undergraduate or graduate at time of application
Priority to applicants with tie to Hawai’i.
To apply, send:
Resume, include journalism experience, awards, multimedia skills
Cover letter, emphasize how you could make The Advertiser a better paper. Address letter to Internship Committee. Specify your tie, if any, to Hawai’i.
Sample clips, for reporters/copy editors, send six clips, preferably published. Copy editors should show before and after examples of editing, headlines. Copy onto letter size paper, do not send originals.
Photographers, send up to 20 photos. Include hard copies and CD.
Page designers/graphic artists, up to 10 samples. Specify what you did. Include hard copies. PDFs also accepted.
Online, printouts, videos, URL addresses. Specify what you did.
References: list 3 nonfamily references, day/night phone numbers and email addresses.
One letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your journalism work.

We prefer to have student interns work full-time for 8-10 weeks, but can be flexible. We have opportunities for news and features interns, and can offer the chance at some good clips for students with basic newswriting and interviewing skills.

Wanted: two or three interns to work during the fall, winter and spring seasons. Requires no experience, but a willingness to learn. The internship will be much more than just answering the phone and taking sports scores. Interns will cover games, wirte features and work the phones. There will be many opportunities to collect a lot of clips in a relatively short amount of time.

Media Internships in Health Reporting
Washington, D.C.
Journalism interns are selected by participating news organizations and work 12 weeks, receiving a stipend and travel expenses from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Interns spend their first week in Washington, D.C., learning about health issues from Kaiser. The next 10 weeks are spent working for a news organization, and the program ends with a 3-day meeting and site visits in Boston.

The Reporters Committee works to defend the First Amendment rights and freedom of information interests of the news media. The Reporters Committee has provided representation, guidance and research in First Amendment and freedom of information litigation in state and federal courts since 1970.
From our office in Arlington, Va., you’ll spend a semester:
• Publishing articles on legal issues that affect journalists — including court proceedings and legislative hearings on Capitol Hill
• Interacting with working journalists, media lawyers and policy makers
• Learning from professionals in small-group seminars held in newsrooms, board rooms and hearing rooms around Washington
• Advocating on behalf of the news media and its interests
