Biographical Information:
Michael Beam's research broadly investigates the impact of new media technology on information creation, exposure, and processing. He is especially interested in how personalized information technologies impact public opinion and health decision-making. His research has also focused on user-generated content, news & entertainment media, and research methodology. He received his PhD from the School of Communication at The Ohio State University in 2011.
Before entering graduate school, he spent over a decade working as a network technologist and system administrator at private Internet firms and universities. He has also worked for over 10 years in community radio production and engineering. He produces a weekly radio show and podcast, The Beat Oracle.
