Four top broadcasting students from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University have been selected by Avid to participate in its Student Representative Program at the National Association of Broadcasting (NAB) convention  (April 14-19, 2007) in Las Vegas.

Each of these students are experiencing NAB first-hand, assisting Avid staff at their booth and with customer activities throughout the show. All students are receiving exclusive training on new Avid products and will interact with professionals from the film, television and broadcast industries.

Working in teams with advisor Marvin Marcelo, the Avid NAB student reps are delivering fresh content in the form of blogs, podcasts and video segments directly from the NAB show floor. In its booth, the company has constructed a live production lab – the “Create Now Studio” – which is enclosed in transparent glass so that show attendees can observe the students working on content creation projects, conducting interviews with industry professionals, and putting a variety of end-to-end HD workflows to practice. The studio activities embody the “Create Now” theme of the Avid Student Representative Program, which challenges students to use portable, powerful and low-cost production gear to transform their creative ideas into real content that will be updated daily and posted to http://avid.blogs.com/nab2007/wsu/index.html.

WSU Students interviewing David Schleifer, President of Strategic Planning for AVID

Over the course of the week, WSU students have the opportunity to interview event attendees, as well as world-class professionals, including Farell Levy, editor for Criminal Minds and NYPD Blue.

According to Avid, this experience "is designed to expose students and emerging professionals to a major, trend-setting event and will further prepare them for successful careers in the media industry."

Be sure to check out their LIVE blog, and follow along with all of their activities.
